The WISY High Capacity Vortex Fine Filter is used in installations where multiple downspouts are connected to a single pipe into the vortex filter. A single unit can filter precipitation from a roof area up to 33,000 square feet for site irrigation, toilet and urinal flushing, janitorial use, laundries, fire protection, evaporative cooling tower make-up, process water, or other non-potable uses. The filter is typically installed in the underground piping system to direct debris to the stormwater system and divert up to 95% of clean rainwater to an underground storage tank. An above-grade application is also possible.

The WISY WFF 300 connects to a 12" pipe for above or below ground storage. An extension tube in 24" increments can be used to raise the inspection opening to ground level. The filter housing is made of polypropylene; filter insert is made of stainless steel. Filter mesh size is 0.38 mm (380 microns). Filter insert requires cleaning a few times a year and is dishwasher safe. Filter inlet, clean water outlet, and stormwater outlet can swivel for custom installation.

PRINCIPLES OF OPERATION

The WISY WFF 300 Vortex Filter separates debris larger than 380 microns from collected rainwater and directs filtered water to the storage tank during an entire rain even eliminating the need for any additional first flush type devices. The filter is designed to provide highly oxygenated water to the storage tank because of its diamond cut vertical design. The WISY WFF 300 Vortex Filter is the first step in a healthy rainwater harvesting system.

The WISY WFF 300 Vortex Filter is the only commercial vertical filter made in the world and provides the highest quality of rainwater. Because of the vertical design, the filter has a self-cleaning effect. Debris is discharged from the filter along with “first flush” and excess water necessary to carry debris to storm or grade. There is no basket to clean or additional sprayers necessary to “rinse” the filter. The filter works on capillary action to provide the highest quality of stored rainwater with minimal maintenance.

The WISY WFF 300 Vortex Filter should be inspected two or three times a year to ensure the natural flow of water in the filter is not obstructed. The stainless steel filter only needs to be cleaned once a year in a dishwasher or by hand washing. Depending on the debris filtered, an additional cleaning may be necessary to maximize efficiency.
